2nd Chance Mission Statement
“…to open their eyes, and to turn then from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in Me.” Acts 26:18
What is Pentecostal? Two-thousand years ago, on the day of Pentecost following Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, 120 disciples gathered in an upper room in Jerusalem. What happened next would change the world forever…
We Believe
The Bible – The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living. 2 Timothy 3:16
God – There is one God, who has revealed Himself as our father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Ghost. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh. He is both God and man. Deuteronomy 6:4, Ephesians 4:4-6, Colossians 2:9, 1 Timothy 3:16
Sin and Salvation – Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith, based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Our basic and fundamental doctrine shall be the Bible standard of full salvation, which is repentance, baptism in water by immersion in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. Mark 16:16, John 3:3-5, Acts 2:38, Romans 3:23-25, 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, 1 Peter 3:20-21
The Gospel – The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the gospel by repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial) and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost (resurrection). Acts 2:4, Acts 2:37-39, Romans 6:3-4, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Christian Living – As Christians we are to love God and others. We should live a holy life inwardly and outwardly, and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, are for the church today. Mark 12:28-31, 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, 2 Corinthians 7″1, Hebrews 12:14
The Future – Jesus Christ is coming again to catch away His church. In the end will be a final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelation 20:11-15
Our Worship
We have Spirit-filled worship in singing, clapping, shouting, leaping, dancing, praying, and through the playing of instruments. Our actions are the heartfelt expression and result of what God has done for us and for who He is.
The Bible gives us many examples of ways to worship that please the Lord.
We pray together aloud because in the Bible we read “They lifted up their voices to God in one accord.” Acts 4:24
We lift our hands in praise because in the Bible we read “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord.” Psalm 134:2
We sing with all our hearts because in the Bible we read “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.” Psalm 98:4
We play musical instruments because in the Bible we read “And all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments.” 2 Samuel 6:5
We clap and shout unto God because in the Bible we read “O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.” Psalm 47:1
We dance before the Lord because in the Bible we read “Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs.” Psalm 150:4
We invite you to join us as we worship and praise God together in spirit and in truth!
